Job description

Experienced Maths Tutor for At-Risk Pupils – 1:1 Alternative Provision Role
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

TP Tutors are looking for experienced and compassionate Maths Tutors to provide 1:1 tuition for young people in alternative provision, LAC, EOTAS, and those at risk of exclusion across Newcastle upon Tyne.

This rewarding role is ideal for educators passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence in maths.

The Role:

  • Deliver structured, engaging maths lessons in homes or community settings.

  • Adapt teaching to suit each learner’s academic and emotional needs.

  • Track and report progress using our secure online system.

  • Work collaboratively with schools, local authorities, and consultants.

  • Manage your own schedule and travel independently.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of KS2–KS4 maths, including Functional Skills.

  • Experience supporting SEND/SEMH pupils or those outside mainstream education.

  • Ability to build trust and inspire confidence.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • QTS preferred (relevant degree and experience also considered).

  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
