Job description

 

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Maths Tutor to work with students outside of traditional classroom settings across Newcastle upon Tyne. You will offer one-on-one tuition either at students' homes or within the local community, helping them develop their mathematical skills, boost their confidence, and achieve their academic aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver customised maths lessons tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning style.

  • Monitor and track student progress, offering constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.

  • Cultivate positive, supportive relationships with students, encouraging a growth mindset and confidence in their abilities.

  • Assist students with exam preparation, homework support, and enhancing their overall maths skills.

  • Adjust teaching methods to suit a variety of learning levels and needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the UK Maths National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 or 4, depending on the role.

  • Prior experience tutoring maths to students outside of formal education or those with SEMH/SEN.

  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to break down complex concepts into accessible explanations.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with students.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in maths or equivalent tutoring experience.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage your time.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
