  • Are you a highly motivated Maths teacher looking for a new position within a ‘Good’ school?

A school in Wythenshawe is looking for a Maths teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis. This position is for teaching staff, and so the required applicant will have to have QTS. A degree in Maths or a related subject is highly desirable. It is vital that the applicant is able to consider the following:

  • The complexities often faced by students with regards to numerical subjects.
  • The obstacles that children who may require EAL support will face with regards to the learning process.
  • Managing pupils with SEN Support. As the number of students who access SEN support is above the national average, being able to deliver effective differentiation to meet the needs of these pupils is imperative.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Joining a team of teaching staff, praised by Ofsted as having “good subject knowledge”. They are also complimented on the fact that they “make learning enjoyable and purposeful”.
  • Teaching pupils who were also praised by Ofsted as making “outstanding progress” within specific fields of the subject.
  • Working with students who were also praised for being “polite and courteous” and that behaviour generally is “good”.
  • Being able to offer improvement strategies – a fairly high number of students resit GCSE Maths. The required applicant will be able to try and reduce this number, through identifying students who may require extra assistance before they sit their first GCSE examination.
  • Receiving regular training as well as continuous personal development, to ensure that school policy is effectively implemented.
  • Working with support staff to successfully deliver interventions to those who require them.
  • Pay - GBP24,373 - GBP40,490 per year, based on previous experience.

The school’s location is just outside Manchester city centre. There are numerous public transport links that are within close proximity to the school itself, as well as there being multiple motorways close by.
