Maths Teacher
Job description
ob Purpose
To deliver high-quality mathematics education that inspires, challenges, and supports students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with opportunities to teach KS5 where appropriate). The role contributes to raising achievement, building confidence in numeracy, and promoting positive attitudes towards learning within a supportive Margate school community.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
-
Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Maths lessons in line with the national curriculum.

Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND, PP, and high-attaining students.

Use a range of teaching strategies to promote problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical fluency.
-
Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that promotes high expectations and good behaviour.
Assessment and Progress
-
Assess, record, and report on student progress accurately and regularly.
-
Use assessment data to inform planning, intervention, and targeted support.
-
Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and GCSE examinations (and A Level where applicable).
Curriculum and Departmental Contribution
-
Contribute to the planning, development, and review of the Maths curriculum.

Share best practice and resources within the department.

Participate in departmental meetings, moderation, and quality assurance activities.
Pastoral and Wider School Responsibilities
-
Act as a Form Tutor and support students’ academic and personal development.
-
Contribute to enrichment activities, revision sessions, and whole-school events.

Maintain strong communication with parents and carers where appropriate.
Professional Responsibilities
-
Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Uphold school policies, including safeguarding, behaviour, and assessment procedures.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and support the ethos and values of the school.
Person Specification (Summary)
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
-
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
-
Ability to motivate and engage learners of all abilities.
-
Commitment to inclusive education and high standards.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
