Mathematics Teacher – Durham Secondary School

February 2026 start

A Durham secondary school is seeking a Mathematics Teacher to join their team. This mixed 11 to 18 comprehensive school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong pastoral support, and high expectations for behaviour and progress.

You'll teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential Key Stage 5 teaching if desired. The focus is delivering engaging lessons that build mathematical fluency, critical thinking, and confidence in applying maths to real world scenarios. The school fosters a caring, respectful community and offers excellent support for pupils with additional learning needs, strong systems for monitoring progress, and a collaborative environment with effective leadership.

What they're looking for:

  • QTS (or completing induction as an ECT)
  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics at KS3/KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Ability to create an inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Capacity to monitor student progress and provide effective feedback

Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain registration for Level 2 Safeguarding training, and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. You'll need a minimum of two professional references covering 24 months of employment.

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm
