Teacher of Mathematics – Mastery Specialist

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a talented and forward-thinking Maths Teacher to join a Portsmouth-based secondary school as a Teacher of Mathematics with a Mastery Specialism. This role combines excellent classroom teaching with strategic leadership in shaping the school’s approach to mathematics.

This is more than a teaching position — it’s a chance to influence the direction of maths education across the school and contribute to a wider professional learning community.

 

The Role:

You will play a central role in transforming how mathematics is taught and understood by:

  • Delivering engaging, thought-provoking lessons that promote deep mathematical thinking and curiosity.

  • Leading the roll out of a mastery-based curriculum that supports understanding, fluency, and problem-solving across all year groups.

  • Working in partnership with the Head of Maths and senior leaders to drive achievement and narrow attainment gaps.

  • Supporting and coaching fellow teachers to build confidence and consistency in mastery teaching methods.

  • Acting as a representative in mastery networks and contributing to local and national developments in maths education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
