Exciting Opportunity: Maths Intervention Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Maths Intervention Assistant to join our team at a well-regarded secondary school in Wilmslow. With an Ofsted rating of 'Good', the school is dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to all students.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Intervention Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing targeted support to students who require additional assistance in mathematics. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivering Intervention Sessions: Working closely with individual students or small groups to deliver tailored intervention sessions focused on improving numeracy skills, including arithmetic, problem-solving, algebra, geometry, and statistics.

  2. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conducting assessments to identify areas of mathematical weakness and monitor students' progress over time, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents on students' strengths and areas for development.

  3. Supporting Classroom Learning: Collaborating with classroom teachers to reinforce learning objectives and assist students in understanding and applying mathematical concepts covered in the curriculum, ensuring continuity and reinforcement of learning.

  4. Providing Individualized Support: Offering one-to-one support and guidance to students who may require additional assistance with specific mathematical skills, adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  5. Building Confidence: Encouraging students to develop confidence in their mathematical abilities, fostering a positive attitude towards learning and providing encouragement and praise to celebrate their achievements.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mathematics, with a passion for promoting numeracy skills and a desire to support students in achieving their mathematical potential.
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in a role focused on mathematics intervention or academic support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing mathematical challenges, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and student engagement.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively within a team environment and respond to the diverse needs of students.
