- Year 7 & 8 key areas
Are you seeking a Monday to Friday based role?
Want a job where you choose your hours?
Looking to get into the education sector?
Then we may have the role for you!
As we are currently seeking a teaching assistant to join our increasingly growing team of passionate educators at Teaching Personnel.
You must have previous experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour and/ or social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
The position is within a 'good' secondary school in Chorley and has a learning support department, for more challenging pupils and pupils with special educational needs. Even though some days will be a challenge, it will offer you great job satisfaction and sense of achievement.
The learning support department are dedicated and do their best endeavours in ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made to meet the complex special educational needs of pupils who need specialist provision. They work closely with the pupils who have a disability and/or a need; be it a learning need, a physical need, a communication/interaction need or a social emotional mental health need.
Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to this.
A Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (e.g. PROACT-SCIP/MAPA) are highly desirable, but not essential. Teaching Personnel also offer a range of CPD courses including Team-Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling so don't worry!
So are you passionate about inspiring and motivating SEMH pupils to access the curriculum. An understanding and flexible nature is essential, and the school is particularly keen to have candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative. Candidates should use their personality to engage with these students. This is a fantastic opportunity to show what you can do and put your skills into practice and show how you can positively encourage all pupils to overcome barriers to learning which will be extremely rewarding.
Should you require any additional information regarding this role, or to apply for the position, please contact Emily, your secondary school specialist consultant on 01772 842 152 or send a copy of your CV through.
