Learning Support Assistant - Sports Graduate Role

SPORTS GRADUATES/COACHES

Are you a recent Sports Graduate who is energetic, passionate and looking for experience within a school setting?

Are you starting your PGCE soon or looking at applying for a PGCE?

Would you like the experience to set you up for success or to enhance your application?

We currently have 2 vacancies where the school have asked specifically for 2 Sporty Teaching Assistants.

The school has specified for Sports coaches/graduates ideally due to the success they have had with these individuals previously, due to being able to support with extra curricular sporting activities. The candidates will be supporting on a 1:1 basis with young people with behavioural difficulties. The varying needs of the pupils include ADHD and Social & Emotional Mental Health. The challenges with education and other pupils in social situations mean you will act as a support function and role model to these young pupils.

The school have expressed that these roles in the past have had particular success with sports graduates due to the nature of the transferable skills. As a Sports Coach you will need to be able to think on your feet and deal with multiple situations as they may arise. The ability to be able to spread your attention to the class whilst also focusing on your own 1:1 pupils is a skills that is transferable from a Coaching setting and work particularly well within the schools behaviour base.

As a passionate sports person you will also have the opportunity to gain an introduction to the PE department and have the options of leading your own sports clubs/teams within the school if this is something that would interest you.
