Learning Support Assistant

A school in Bolton catering for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with young people who may find difficulties within their school routine.
Unlike traditional schools, this environment provides an adapted curriculum based on vocational study, holistic activity and support for well-being, so the students can feel less pressured and therefore more able to progress in an environment which they can flourish in.

Your role as Learning Support Assistant centres around providing a professional standard of care in all areas the student may struggle with ; behaviour, emotional well-being, anger management, anxiety, depression and self confidence. Supporting these areas and helping them to become an independent individual will reflect on their ability to engage and access education.
It's important to understand that you may meet challenges in this role, so applicants need to be patient, have a positive demeanour and an understanding of child welfare and issues young people may face.

In your application you should be able to demonstrate experience which reflects the above necessities, such as Youth Work or Support Work.
It is preferable for applicants to have de-escalation and/or restraint training however this can be obtained through Teaching Personnel's CPD Academy.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm and the role is expected to begin in September on a rolling contract.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
