Learning Support Assistant – Wigan

Teaching Personnel are working in close partnership with a large, mixed mainstream secondary school in Wigan who are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from November. 

This is a full-time (term time), temporary role starting in November to Feburary initially, with a view to be needed for the full academic year.

The secondary school are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils who require additional support with their studies for reasons such as mild to moderate Special Educational Needs including Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD and challenging behaviours.

Key Aspects of the Learning Support Assistant role:

-          Similar to that of a Teaching Assistant, you will offer tailored support and guidance to young people who are struggling with their learning due to SEN.

-          Full time, term time, Monday to Friday, 9am - 3pm

-          Earn GBP1140 per month, paid weekly.

-          Working alongside class teachers, SENCO and other support staff in the school to best support identified pupils.

-          Delivering tailored learning activities to promote engagement and attainment, in small groups and on 1:1.

-          Covering a variety of issues including; challenging behaviour, mild SEN, additional support to pupils who are underachieving or on a grade border line. 

-          Supporting Year 7 pupils with transition activities who have just started with the secondary school in September

-          Great way to gain experience if considering a career a secondary teaching / a PGCE!

-          A very rewarding role, supporting the learning of disadvantaged pupils – best suited to those with experience and who are enthusiastic, patient and flexible with their approach.
