Learning Support Assistant – Wigan

A high performing, co-educational secondary school in Wigan are looking to recruit a passionate and devoted Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis ASAP. Similar to the role of a Teaching Assistant, you will specifically guide and provide additional support to pupils with mild Special Educational Needs (SEN) and SEMH.

The role of Learning Support Assistant is vital in ensuring all pupils at the secondary school have an equal chance of reaching their full potential.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Mentor:

- Supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH in small classroom groups and on 1:1

- Delivering tailored learning activities to promote subject engagement and attainment

- Working closely with the school’s SENCO, pastoral team and teachers to ensure the needs of each individual are met

- Confident dealing with challenging behaviours, adopting a flexible approach to learning.

Highlights of the Learning Support Mentor:

*Supporting the learning of pupils with SEN and SEMH 

* Working at an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Wigan – located off the M6 and M61

* Full time temporary position – starting ASAP until July 2020

* Completive rate of pay (GBP57-65 a day)

* The ideal candidate will have previous experience with young people in a similar role
