Learning Support Assistant

 

Location: Waterlooville

Start Date: ASAP

 

A Secondary School that school places strong emphasis on academic achievement, character development, and inclusive education within a supportive community environment is seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team!

 

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting and assisting students who require additional help with their learning, whether due to learning difficulties, disabilities, or language barriers. You will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to succeed academically and develop their full potential.

Your primary responsibility is supporting classroom teachers in student learning, care, and behaviour management. This involves establishing positive relationships with students, assisting in implementing Individual Education/Behaviour Support Plans and encouraging student interaction and engagement in learning activities.

The school provides structured support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including provision for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

  • Relevant experience with young people in an educational setting
  • Ability to relate well to young people
  • Teamwork and understanding of classroom roles
  • Initiative and self-evaluation for learning needs
  • Understanding of relevant policies and legislation
  • Knowledge of child development and learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
