Learning Support Assistant – Durham
Daily Rate: £90 to £110
Start Date: September 2025
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work in secondary schools across Durham, supporting students with special educational needs in both mainstream and SEN settings.
This is a great opportunity for those considering a career in education, including future teachers, psychology graduates, or anyone who enjoys helping young people succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEND on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Assist teachers with delivering adapted learning materials
- Encourage academic, emotional, and social development
- Work alongside SENCOs and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people (in education, care, youth work, etc.)
- A calm, positive, and supportive approach
- Ability to follow guidance and use initiative when needed
- A genuine interest in helping students overcome barriers to learning
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
