Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
 Specialist Secondary School- Portsmouth

Full Time | Term Time Only

 £13.75 per hour

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team on a full-time, term-time-only basis.

The school supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism spectrum condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact in a highly supportive and specialist setting.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND

  • Supporting students with autism, SEMH needs, and additional learning challenges

  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and EHCP targets

  • Promoting positive behaviour using consistent, therapeutic approaches

  • Supporting emotional regulation and social development

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to meet individual needs

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with young people with SEND (school, care or youth work settings)

  • Be calm, resilient and patient under pressure

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a supportive and structured manner

  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the update service

What Teaching Personnel Offers:

  • Competitive pay of £13.75 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
