Learning Support Assistant
Hourly Rate: £11.84
Start Date - 8th April
Pay Rate - £77 per day
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a school in Abergavenny to recruit a of 121 Support Assistants ahead of the Summer term. You will be tasked with providing 121 Support for children who have a wide range of Additional Learning Needs to access learning in a way that best suits them. Some additional learning needs you may encounter are Autistic Spectrum Disorder; including children who are non-verbal and have sensory processing requirements. As we know, the spectrum is diverse so building a relationship with the child will be essential in progressing their Educational, Communicational, Social, Emotional and Behavioural needs.
There are also roles within mainstream of the school where you may be expected to look after children who have been excluded from lessons, or again children who need additional help within their daily lessons.
Anyone who comes from a sporting background is also encouraged to apply as you may use some interventions on a daily basis such as field activities, table tennis and helping the students in gym sessions.
The Successful 121 Support Assistant will:
- Promote the independence, inclusion and equality of children with a sensory impairment/medical needs/behaviour difficulties or communication disorders within a classroom setting.
- Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model whilst motivating pupils, promoting and reinforcing self esteem.
- Assist with the development of the personal needs of Children who have complex needs and those who display behaviour or social challenges and communication difficulties.
- Promoting independence to prepare the young people for the future.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
