Learning Mentors Needed Across Streatham
Location: Streatham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time
Do you have a natural ability to connect with children who find school challenging?
Are you calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and motivated by progress that isn’t always measured in test scores?
Friendly and inclusive primary schools in Streatham are looking for Learning Mentors to support pupils who need extra guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
This is a relationship-led role, ideal for candidates from mentoring, youth work, psychology, sports coaching or pastoral backgrounds — school experience is helpful, but not essential.
The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you’ll support pupils who may struggle with:
- Behaviour and emotional regulation
- Focus, motivation and confidence in class
- Social skills and peer relationships
- Transitions, routines and unstructured times
You’ll work closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral leads to provide consistent, supportive intervention, helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
Who We’re Hoping to Hear From
This role would suit people with experience in:
- Learning Mentoring or Behaviour Support
- Youth Work, Play Work or Community Projects
- Psychology, Criminology or Education degrees
- Sports Coaching, Martial Arts or Team Coaching
- SEMH, SEN or mental health support roles
Formal TA qualifications are not essential — mindset, consistency and empathy matter most.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people (any setting)
- A calm, resilient and reflective approach
- Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain boundaries
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
What’s On Offer
- A full-time, long-term role in supportive Streatham primary schools
- Clear structure, routines and strong pastoral leadership
- Competitive daily pay
- Ongoing support from a friendly, experienced education agency
- Valuable experience for careers in teaching, psychology, SEN or youth work
- Opportunity to secure a permanent role
