Learning Mentors - Bury

Do you have experience working with students who require additional support?

Teaching Personnel are working alongside several Secondary schools in Bury who have noticed a staffing gap in the Learning Support department. Many of these schools require Learning Mentors to support students who are falling behind academically.

  • Part-time Learning Mentor roles available from September 2019 until the end of the academic year.
  • Opportunity to work in several Secondary schools in Bury to broaden experience.
  • Mentor students in small groups and occasionally support pupils on a 1:1 basis when they are withdrawn from classes.
  • Many students will have learning difficulties and may display challenging behaviour as a result of this.
  • Earn up to £350 per week, depending on experience

Working as a Learning Mentor in one of our client schools, you can expect the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Working alongside class teachers supporting students aged 11-16 in classes.
  • Supporting students in need of extra support and report progress back to Senior class teachers.
  • Planning and delivering interventions for pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, with various levels of learning ability.
  • Supporting students with learning difficulties who can show signs of occasional challenging behaviour as a result.
  • Monitoring students progress and reporting this back to Senior staff members.

Application Requirements

  • You must have experience of working with individuals who have learning or behavioural difficulties as these skills will be highly transferrable.
  • Our client schools would like candidates that are familiar with students that are known to show challenging behaviour alongside their learning difficulties and therefore, require extra support with their studies.

Our client schools are in need of extra staff to guarantee these students are supported and that teachers also have the help they require in the classroom. Our client schools are based across Bury and can be accessed via the M66 and A58 from surrounding areas of Greater Manchester for those who have their own transportation. For non-drivers, there are several forms of public transport with links to areas such as Bolton, Salford and central Manchester.

For immediate consideration, please submit a full CV to Megan Knight. To obtain further information, please contact the Manchester West Secondary Office on the contact number provided below;
