Job Title: Learning Mentor
Location: Blackburn (Alternative Provision)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay Rate: £13.74 – £14.50 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Learning Mentor to join an Alternative Provision based in Blackburn. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people who may face barriers to learning, helping them to re-engage with education and reach their full potential.

As a Learning Mentor, you will provide one-to-one and small group support, focusing on students’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to create a supportive environment where every student can succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring to help students overcome personal and academic challenges.

  • Support learners in developing confidence, motivation, and positive learning behaviours.

  • Work alongside teaching staff to implement individual support plans and strategies.

  • Promote emotional well-being and resilience through positive relationships and encouragement.

  • Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, care, or support setting.

  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students who may display challenging behaviour.

  • A calm, patient, and supportive approach to working with disengaged learners.

  • DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
