Job description

Teaching Personnel are actively recruiting for schools within the BB18 area.  We have some fantastic opportunities for Teaching assistants Level 1 to 3 in our supportive and dedicated schools.  Roles are available across both Keystage 1 and 2 and ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young children’s learning and development in a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.

Location: Barnoldswick and surrounding area
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Hours: Full-time  
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026

About the Role

✅ Core Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Assist with planning and preparation of learning activities and classroom resources
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning
  • Provide extra support for children with additional needs (SEN, EAL, behavioural needs)
  • Encourage positive behaviour and manage classroom conduct in line with school policies

Classroom Support

  • Help set up and organise classroom equipment and materials
  • Listen to pupils read and support literacy and numeracy development
  • Monitor pupils’ progress and report feedback to the teacher
  • Support differentiated learning activities to meet varied abilities
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, playtime, and school trips

Pupil Development & Welfare

  • Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and engagement
  • Support safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately
  • Encourage independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or EHCPs

Administrative Duties

  • Help with marking work and recording pupil progress
  • Prepare displays of pupils’ work
  • Maintain classroom organisation and tidiness
  • Assist with classroom records and documentation

Communication & Teamwork

  • Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff
  • Communicate with parents when required (under teacher guidance)
  • Contribute to team meetings and school activities
  • Follow school policies and procedures at all times

⭐ Additional Responsibilities (Depending on Role)

  • Support phonics programmes (especially in Key Stage 1)
  • Assist with SATs preparation (Key Stage 2)
  • Provide lunchtime or pastoral support
  • Cover lessons when required (HLTA roles)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
