Welsh-Speaking ALN Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 2 (Year 5/6)

Location: Swansea SA2
Start Date: September 2025 (Trial required before end of Summer Term)
Job Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Contract: Temporary to Permanent for the right Candidate
Salary: Starting daily rate £89.38


Job Overview

We are recruiting a fluent Welsh-speaking ALN Teaching Assistant to work with Key Stage 2 pupils (Year 5/6) at a partnering friendly and inclusive primary school. The role begins in September 2025, with trial sessions scheduled for Summer Term 2025.

You will support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) through 1:1 interventions, small group work, and provide general classroom assistance when required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ALN in Year 5/6
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and adapting resources
  • Promote inclusive learning in line with the ALN Code
  • Record and report on pupil progress with SENCo guidance
  • Support classroom activities and whole-class learning when needed
  • Foster a safe, supportive, Welsh-speaking environment

Essential Requirements

✅ Fluent Welsh speaker (spoken and written)
✅ Experience supporting pupils with ALN or SEN, ideally in Key Stage 2
✅ Patient, caring, and committed to inclusive education
✅ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the ALN Act (Wales) 2021
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, or speech and language needs
  • First Aid and/or safeguarding training
