Teacher of Humanities – Wigan

A smaller than average, mainstream secondary school in Wigan are currently looking to appoint a Teacher of Humanities to join their teamfrom January 2020. Due to a gap in the department, the school have an open vacancy for a Humanities teacher to join their team until April2020 in the first instance, with a view to be made permanent with the school after this introduction.

The school are looking for a Humanities Teacher who can teach 1 or more of the following subjects; Geography, History, Religious Education and PSHE.

Key Aspects:

  • Full time Humanities Teacher - Wigan
  • January 2020 to April 2020 – view to be made permanent
  • Teaching Humanities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Must be able to teach at least 1 of the above subjects
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS
  • An improving and well supportive secondary school close to the centre of Wigan
  • Introduced to this position through Teaching Personnel

Responsibilities:

-          Teaching a Humanities timetable across KS3 and KS4 (tailored to your subject specialisms)

-          Planning and delivering quality lessons which have clear aims/objectives

-          Adapting teaching styles to cater for all pupil abilities

-          Be confident with classroom and behaviour management

-          Able to raise attainment in your subject specialism(s)

-          Participating in departmental meetings, training and parents evening when required

-          Acting as a positive role model, promoting the values and ethos of the school and work in line with school policies/procedures

The successful Humanities teacher will receive a full, thorough induction and will be well supported in their new role.

The secondary school located in Wigan is proudly a part of a reputable education Trust across the North West. Since becoming a part of this trust, the school has made significant progress on the whole, most noticeably in pupil attainment across all departments and in behaviour. The incoming Humanities teacher will join a caring and inclusive community for both teachers and pupils. The school boats outstanding learning facilities and is looking to appoint a Humanities teacher who will encourage pupils to reach their full potential through a needs-led curriculum.

The secondary school is situated just outside of Wigan town centre, making it very accessible for all applicants. For drivers, the school is accessible via the A577 and is suited between frequent and reliable public transport links into the town centre for non drivers.
