Humanities teacher

Date posted : 28/03/18
£22917 - £33824 per annum + Negotiable

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Due to an upcoming maternity leave in our client schools Humanities department, there is the need for a qualified Humanities teacher to join them on a full time basis from May onwards, teaching History and Geography.

  • Full time Humanities post, History and Geography across Key Stage 3
  • Well regarded secondary school situated in Oldham
  • Accessible from Manchester city centre via bus and tram routes
  • Collaborative and successful Humanities department, with track record of excellent results
  • Earn in line with teaching scale point (MPS/UPS)
  • May 2018 start date, 9 month maternity cover

Situated on the Rochdale/Oldham border, our client is larger than most secondary schools with over 1400 students currently attending. The large majority enrol hail from the local areas such as Shaw, Crompton and Milnrow and the school serves a predominantly white-British catchment area. Since the appointment of the new Headteacher, there has been a school wide focus on teaching and learning strategies with the aim to maximise results across the school and to cultivate a learning environment in which students are encouraged to learn. The incoming Humanities teacher will join an experienced department with supportive faculty lead.

"We have a gap within our Humanities department, and would welcome the application of any enthusiastic Humanities teachers looking to hit the ground running and join our staff. We have no preference on a History or Geography teacher as we can accommodate either specialism, but would like the incoming staff to contribute to departmental responsibilities including planning and marking schemes of work." - Assistant Head, Humanities Link

If you are a Humanities teacher looking to secure a fixed term position and would like to be taken in to consideration for this post, then please apply via the link below or call Miles at Manchester Secondary directly.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
