HLTA and L3 role in Blackburn

Date posted : 22/03/18
£58 - £68 per day + CPD

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

An average sized School located 1 mile from the centre of Blackburn town centre have approached Teaching Personnel in order to source and supply a L3/HLTA to work in the lower Juniors. The school is 1 form entry and serves a 'challenging' and 'socially deprived background' where children arrive lower than average entry level. The children are noted as being in the most vulnerable bracket for the Nation's average and with this there are a number of behavioural challenges.

The role will be to start from Monday 9th April 2018 and run for the remainder of the academic year. The Head teacher approached me on Wednesday to say she has had a resignation in the lower juniors. The role is 10 hours at L3 and 15 hours at HLTA. It is imperative that you hold a HLTA qualification and you are comfortable in planning and delivering lesson content. You will be expected to work effectively with the class teacher to ensure you are covering the correct lesson content in line with medium term plans. The role will be to start after the Easter holidays and continue 25 hours a week. This will be spread over 3.5 days in total. The previous HLTA worked on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday full days and then half a day on Thursdays. The Head teacher has specified that they may have flexibility with the working days.

It is important that you are confident in the delivery of the LKS2 Curriculum and you are happy to work in a school where you will be expected to use a range of strategies to deal with challenging behaviour.

The rate of pay will vary due to this role being split between L3 and HLTA, you can expect to be paid between £58-£68 per day, however this is negotiable.

The School also has a strong Christian ethos and this is something you must be able to uphold during your time in school if you are successful. It is not a necessity to be a practicing Christian but it would be beneficial.

If you would like more information on the role then please do not hesitate to contact me in the office on 01772 842154 or email me at

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
