Job Advert: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary School, Runcorn

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Runcorn is currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team. This full-time position offers a temp-to-perm pathway for the right candidate.
The successful HLTA will work in close collaboration with teaching staff to support students with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Responsibilities will include providing in-class assistance, delivering targeted interventions, and helping students reach their academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Delivering small group and one-to-one interventions tailored to individual learning needs.
- Assisting teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons or activities.
- Offering guidance, encouragement, and pastoral support to promote student engagement.
- Adapting support strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Essential Qualities and Experience:
- HLTA status or significant experience in a similar educational support role.
- Proven experience supporting students with SEND in a school setting.
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young people.
- Confidence in leading small groups and delivering structured interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and parents/carers.
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach to managing challenges.
- Motivation to inspire and guide students to achieve their best.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
