Job description

Experienced HLTA Wanted – Alternative Provision Centre (Runcorn)

Are you a dedicated and experienced HLTA looking for a rewarding new challenge?
An alternative provision centre in the Runcorn area is seeking a passionate individual to join their team, supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream education—some of whom have been permanently excluded.

This centre is committed to transforming the life outcomes of its pupils, placing education and personal development at the heart of everything they do. Catering for Key Stage 3 and 4 students, the team works hard to re-engage learners by creating a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.

Students are offered a broad and practical curriculum, including hair and beauty, mechanics, and carpentry, giving them valuable skills and a fresh sense of purpose.

Role Details:

  • Position: HLTA / Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

  • Location: Specialist Provision, Runcorn

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:00pm (Term-Time Only)

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

  • Pay: Competitive rates

The school was recently rated GOOD by Ofsted, who noted:

“Pupils’ behaviour in and around school is good, and they engage well in lessons. Their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is strong—they are knowledgeable about other cultures and beliefs, and are respectful to staff and visitors.”

What We’re Looking For:

  • An HLTA with experience supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

  • Someone confident in managing challenging behaviour sensitively and effectively.

  • A team player who is passionate about helping students re-engage with education and achieve their goals.

  • A positive role model who can inspire, motivate, and guide learners in small class settings.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and thrive in a supportive, hands-on environment, we’d love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
