A mainstream secondary school in Runcorn is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to move from a temporary to a permanent contract for the right candidate.
The HLTA will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role will involve providing in-class support, delivering targeted interventions, and guiding students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions, tailored to individual learning needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons or activities.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and pastoral support to help students engage in learning.
- Adapt support strategies as needed to meet the individual needs of students.
- Contribute to creating an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment.
Qualities and Experience Required:
- HLTA status or substantial relevant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience of supporting students with SEND in a school setting.
- Strong ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Confidence in leading small groups and delivering planned interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with staff, students, and parents/carers.
- A calm, patient, and supportive approach to managing challenges.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide students to achieve their best.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
