Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Full time / Term time only

April start

We are seeking a friendly and professional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a supportive 11-16 school in Portsmouth. 

This would be full time role working across KS3 and KS4 taking on full responsibilities. As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you may be asked to cover lessons, so candidates must be strong with behaviour management and be able to think on their feet quickly. We are looking for somebody with commitment, energy and expertise to work closely with staff to ensure that the children achieve their very best.

To be considered for the role you must have experience working as a teaching assistant/working with children within the education environment. Relevant experience is essential for this role.

Previous experience working with Special Educational Needs children is ideal, with those already holding a HLTA qualification even more desirable.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers however necessary such as taking responsibility for learning activities
  • Work closely with students that have varying emotional, behaviour, physical or academic needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Display understanding, empathy and support to build a positive rapport with students
  • Support the SEN Coordinator with student assessments and administration
  • Engage with the ethos of the school, acting as a positive role model for students

  • Hold experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • Show a passion for working with children
  • Be able to work in the Portsmouth area.
  • Be available to work on a full-time basis

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
