Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-established educational setting known for its supportive ethos and excellent professional culture.

This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a real impact within a vibrant secondary learning environment.

As an HLTA, you will ensure high-quality learning support by acting as a positive role model and guiding Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Workers. You’ll play a key part in coaching colleagues, overseeing good practice, and confidently supervising classes when required.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Students

• Encourage positive interactions between staff and learners

• Provide care and guidance in structured and informal learning situations

• Assist students so they can fully engage in activities

• Support staff when delivering literacy and numeracy development

Supporting Staff & Teaching

• Work alongside TAs to maintain excellent learning support standards

• Promote strong, professional working relationships across the team

• Help prepare resources and organise engaging learning environments

• Lead small groups or individuals under teacher guidance

• Observe progress, contribute to reports and maintain accurate records

• Assist in planning and reviewing learning activities

• Support classroom use of ICT

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN

• Strong communication skills and a professional, proactive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
