Location: Luton, Bedfordshire

Reports to: Class Teacher / SENCO / Senior Leadership Team

Job Purpose We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HLTA to join our team in Luton. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff to plan, deliver, and assess impactful learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes.

Teaching & Learning Excellence Lead with confidence by delivering high-quality lessons and taking the lead on whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher. You will tailor learning materials and strategies to ensure all pupils, regardless of ability, can access the curriculum. You will also assist in the assessment, recording, and reporting of pupil progress to ensure no child falls behind, while fostering the development of essential literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.

Pupil Wellbeing & Inclusion Cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom where emotional wellbeing and high expectations are the standard. You will provide pastoral care and guidance, employing effective behavior management strategies to maintain a focused learning atmosphere. A key part of your role will be to actively promote student independence, self-confidence, and social integration.

Planning & Curriculum Development Partner with teachers to evaluate and adjust lesson plans to better meet classroom dynamics. You will help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and bespoke strategies for pupils with additional needs, while contributing to vibrant classroom displays and resource development that inspire curiosity.

Leadership & Professionalism Supervise and mentor Teaching Assistants, fostering a supportive "one-team" culture. You will actively participate in staff meetings, INSET days, and professional development workshops. It is essential that you maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all school policies, with a primary focus on Safeguarding and Child Protection.

Person Specification Essential criteria include HLTA Status (or a recognized Level 4 equivalent qualification) and proven experience supporting primary-aged children within a UK educational setting. You must have the confidence to lead whole-class teaching independently, possess exceptional organizational skills, and show an unwavering commitment to safeguarding. Desirable criteria include specialist experience with SEN or EAL pupils, a valid First Aid qualification, and proficiency in using educational software.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
