Head of Science – Girls' Secondary School & Coeducational Sixth Form (Academy Status) – Southfields
Location: Southfields, London
Position: Head of Science
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner, if available)
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)
Our client, a high-performing girls' secondary school with a coeducational sixth form and academy status, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Science to lead and inspire a committed team of science educators.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and forward-thinking school, dedicated to delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Science Department, shaping the curriculum, and raising standards of achievement across Key Stages 3 to 5.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Science Department

Drive progress and attainment across all key stages
-
Line-manage a team of subject specialists and support staff
-
Oversee curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment
-
Ensure high-quality teaching and learning through effective coaching and CPD
-
Foster a positive, inclusive, and ambitious learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-
A strong track record of excellent classroom practice
-
Proven leadership or middle leadership experience in a Science department
-
The ability to motivate, inspire and support both students and colleagues
-
A commitment to high expectations and continuous improvement
