Head of Department for Health and Social Care – Carshalton

A Catholic secondary school in Carshalton are currently hiring for a Head of Department for Health and Social Care. Teaching Personnel work closely with a variety of schools, specifically Catholic schools due to a Service Level Agreement in place with the Southwark and Brentwood Diocese. The Catholic school in question is one of Teaching Personnel’s client schools and we are currently looking for a Health and Social Care teacher with experience in a leadership position or ready to step up to Head of Department.

  • Health and Social Care teacher with experience teaching BTEC Level 3 National Diploma and Extended Certificate

  • Experience in leadership positions is required as the successful teacher will be Head of a small department within a school deeply committed to vocational education

  • Pay scale inline with the inner London MPS/UPS pay scale; GBP30,067 to GBP44,541 (M3 to U3), plus a TLR for the leadership responsibilities (GBP11,420 to GBP23,240)

  • Full time and permanent position from January 2020, interviews are taking place the week commencing the 4th of November

  • A highly rated Catholic Secondary school located in Carshalton, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted

The successful teacher will hold a UK recognised teaching qualification, PGCE or QTS, with a base knowledge in Social Science, Biology or Physical Education. Teachers applying for this position must have experience working with the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma and BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate at Key Stage 5.

The Catholic school in question is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and is well regarded. Working as Head of Department, there will be a lot of support and resources at your disposal. The school have state-of-the-art ICT suites readily accessible to the Health and Social Care Department allowing independent work on assignments. There are also Teacher Packs for the incoming Head of Department with can be adapted and personalised were needed.
