Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools (Mainstream & Additional Needs)
Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: September onwards
Salary: From £93 per day (depending on role)
Contract: Full-time, Part-time & Flexible Opportunities Available
Have you recently completed your degree and are looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching, psychology, education, social care or youth work?
We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Vale of Glamorgan, working with pupils aged 11–16 in both mainstream classrooms and Additional Learning Needs (ALN) bases.
No previous school experience is required—we're looking for graduates with the right attitude, transferable skills and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and school staff to support students both academically and emotionally. Every day is different, and you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils in lessons across a range of subjects.
- Providing one-to-one or small group academic intervention.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Building positive relationships with students and staff.
- Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
- Using initiative to adapt to different classroom environments.
- Helping students develop confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

Personal experience of supporting someone with additional needs is highly desirable, whether through family, volunteering, mentoring, coaching or other life experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
