Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Unqualified Teachers and Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across the Vale of Glamorgan from September 2026.

We are partnering with a number of English-medium and Welsh-medium secondary schools seeking confident, reliable individuals to provide classroom cover throughout the new academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, teaching assistants, and anyone with experience working with young people who is looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher. You will not be required to plan or mark lessons, allowing you to focus on managing the classroom and supporting students with their learning.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Supervise students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classrooms.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Ensure pupils remain engaged and complete the work provided.
  • Record attendance and report any concerns to school staff.
  • Provide feedback to teachers following each lesson.
  • Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.

We Are Looking For

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils.
  • A professional, flexible, and reliable approach.
  • Experience working with young people (preferred but not essential).
  • Graduates and aspiring teachers are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluent Welsh speakers are encouraged to apply for opportunities within Welsh-medium schools.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references covering the last two years.
  • Registration with Teaching Personnel before placement.
