Future Teachers Programme – Manchester
Location: Manchester
Start Dates: April or September 2026
Programme Length: Two Years
Route: Paid School Experience → Salaried Teacher Training (QTS)
Introduction
Teaching Personnel is recruiting graduates for its Future Teachers Programme in Manchester. This two-year pathway is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education and would benefit from gaining practical school experience before entering formal teacher training.
How the Programme Works
Phase One – Paid Classroom Experience
Participants will begin the programme working in a secondary school in Manchester as a Cover Supervisor.
Your role will include:
- Supervising lessons during short-term teacher absence
- Supporting students to complete work set by teaching staff
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Assisting with wider school and pastoral activities
There is no requirement for lesson planning, marking, or active teaching during this phase.
Phase Two – Salaried Teacher Training
Following successful completion of Phase One, participants progress into a Initial Teacher Training (ITT) position.
This phase includes:
- Training towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Structured mentoring and professional development
- Opportunity to complete a PGCE alongside QTS
- Continued placement within the same school or trust where possible
This structure provides continuity and a supported transition into a teaching career.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
