Graduate Teacher Internship – September 2025 Start – Full-Time – Greater Manchester

Are you a final-year student or recent graduate considering a career in secondary teaching?

If you're passionate about education but want to gain hands-on school experience before committing to a teacher training course, our Graduate Teacher Internship Programme could be the perfect pathway to begin your teaching journey.

Through this programme, you’ll work full-time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in a supportive secondary school from September 2025 to July 2026, ahead of progressing onto a teacher training course with QTS at an Outstanding ITT provider in Greater Manchester.

What is the Graduate Teacher Internship Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme is a structured and paid internship designed to tackle the national teacher shortage by giving graduates the opportunity to experience life in the classroom before undertaking formal teacher training. It is a fully immersive introduction to teaching, tailored for those who are motivated to pursue the profession.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from:

  • Final-year university students or recent graduates

  • Individuals passionate about becoming secondary school teachers

  • Graduates from all disciplines – with particular demand for English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages (MFL), and PE

To be considered, you must be available to work full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:15am–3:00pm) from September 2025 to July 2026.

What will you be doing?

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students in your subject specialism

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to boost progress

  • Gain experience with behaviour management and SEND support

  • Build valuable classroom confidence and teaching skills

You’ll be fully integrated into school life, receiving ongoing support and mentoring from experienced educators.

Locations:

Positions are available across Greater Manchester, including Stockport, South Manchester, Tameside, and Salford.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
