Cover Supervisor – Secondary School – Stockport

Location:Stockport
Position:Cover Supervisor (Key Stages 3–4)
Contract:Flexible – Full-time or Part-time (minimum 2 days/week)
Pay: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Start date:Immediate or September 2025

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is currently working in partnership with a successful secondary school in Stockport, seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisorto provide essential classroom supervision in the absence of teaching staff. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, managing pupil behaviour, and supporting students to stay on task throughout the school day.

This is an ideal role for recent graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with previous experience in schools, youth work, or sports coaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher

  • Deliver pre-set resources and lesson plans provided by teaching staff

  • Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning

  • Follow and enforce the school's behaviour management policy

  • Report back to teaching staff with feedback and any behaviour concerns

  • Support the wider pastoral team and be a positive role model for students

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people aged 11–16, ideally in a school setting

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A calm, resilient approach to managing classroom behaviour

  • The ability to build positive relationships quickly with students and staff

  • A flexible and proactive attitude to school life

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Degree or relevant Level 3 qualification

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant, tutor, youth mentor, or coach

  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport (to reach local schools)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
