Job description

 

Teaching Personnel are currently working with an established independent secondary school in the London borough of Islington to recruit a qualified Geography Teacher to start in September 2024.

The role: We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional teacher of Geography with the ability to teach the subject to A-Level. The position is for September 2024 and is suitable for an experienced teacher or ECT.

The school: A small school, with approximately 250 students on roll, offers prospective candidates the opportunity to teach small classes with highly motivated students. The stunning school setting in the heart of London contributes to making NBH Canonbury a special place in which to teach. Previous experience in the independent school sector is not required, but high expectations for children’s learning are essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Designing and delivering engaging lessons that align with the national curriculum or educational standards, ensuring that they cater to the needs and abilities of students at different ages and levels.
  2. Teaching Core Geography Concepts: Introducing students to fundamental geographic concepts such as maps, landforms, climate, population, ecosystems, and human-environment interaction, and progressing to more complex topics as students advance in age and understanding.
  3. Developing Geographic Skills: Teaching students skills such as map reading, spatial analysis, data interpretation, fieldwork techniques, and geographical inquiry methods, tailored to the appropriate level of the curriculum.
  4. Utilizing Resources and Technology: Incorporating a variety of resources including textbooks, maps, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), multimedia presentations, and field trips to enhance learning experiences and make lessons more interactive and relevant.
  5. Assessment and Feedback: Designing assessments (such as quizzes, tests, projects, and presentations) to evaluate students' understanding and progress, providing constructive feedback, and supporting students in improving their geographic knowledge and skills.
