Future Teachers Programme – Secondary School Experience – Stockport

Location: Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, term time only
Salary: £89–£95 per day
Duration: Full academic year (2025–26), with teacher training routes available thereafter

Overview:
If you're a graduate considering a career in teaching, our Future Teachers Programme is a structured and fully supported school-based route into education. We’re recruiting graduates to join a vibrant and progressive secondary school in Stockport, where you’ll work as a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor, gaining hands-on classroom experience.

This is the perfect opportunity to build your confidence, develop your teaching skills, and enhance your application for a PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct programme.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Working closely with pupils aged 11–16 across a range of subjects, depending on your specialism and interests

  • Leading small-group interventions, particularly in English, Maths, Science, or Humanities

  • Supporting classroom teachers with lesson preparation, learning activities, and behaviour management

  • Assisting with student well-being, monitoring academic progress and behaviour

  • Covering short-term teacher absences with full support from the school’s cover team

  • Accessing CPD sessions, lesson observations, and regular feedback to improve your practice

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Recent graduates (or final-year students) from any discipline, particularly Education, Psychology, English, Maths, or Science

  • Applicants who are enthusiastic about working with young people and contributing to their development

  • Individuals with excellent communication skills, resilience, and a positive attitude

  • Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
