Future Teachers Programme – Graduate Teacher Internship

Teaching Personnel’s Future Teachers Graduate Scheme is a programme created to assist any graduates considering a career as a secondary teacher in the future.

The Future teachers Graduate Scheme assists graduates to gain further school-based experience prior to securing a place on a PGCE or Initial Teacher Training Programme. This programme involves working within a secondary school as a Teaching Assistant on a 12-month basis, prior to beginning your teacher training the following year.

Future Teachers Programme September 2024

We currently have multiple places available when schools return following the summer holidays (Sept 2023) at various client schools across the Greater Manchester region. This programme is for graduates with degrees in English, Maths, Science, Humanities or languages with placement schools based across Manchester, Stockport, Salford, Trafford, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale and Oldham.  

** Applicants must have completed their degree by August 2024 and be looking to pursue a career in secondary education in the future ***

What is the Future Teachers Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme is designed to help address the teacher shortages across England & Wales by attracting and supporting bright graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in formal teacher training.

How does it work?

Successful graduates who begin our Future Teachers programme will take on a variety of responsibilities within one of our client schools, whereby you will be required to support pupils within your subject specialism department. This will be a full-time role within your allocated school where you will undertake a variety of tasks and activities that will give you a good understanding as to the role of a teacher. A significant proportion of these tasks and activities will also benefit your subject knowledge as you will focus on raising pupil attainment, supporting special needs pupils, covering classes, assisting with the planning and preparation of lessons and delivering small group tuition sessions.

This is a paid opportunity whereby you will have the opportunity to earn money (£1200 - £1300 per month) whilst learning and building the essential skillset to become a successful teacher.  

Applicant requirements:

All applicants are required to have completed their degree, with the school looking to recruit graduates across all subject areas, with particular focus on; English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and MFL. To be successful in gaining a position on our Future Teachers Programme, you will be passionate about becoming a secondary teacher in the future and must be able to commit to the programme on a full time basis (Monday – Friday, 8.15am – 3.00pm) from September 2024 until July 2025.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
