Functional Skills Tutor

Teaching Personnel are looking for a 1:1 tutor to work with a male Looked After Pupil who is 15 years old and lives in a residential home in Mansfield. We are looking for someone to work with him on a full time basis within the residential home, with potential to later move out to a local library setting. The student will require cross-curricular support including English, Maths and Science. He is working at below age related expectations in all subjects, due to an extended period without a school place.

The role is temporary until a new school place is sought for him, starting in September 2019

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

• A Teacher with either QTS or PTLLS/DTLLS qualifications, OR a confident Teaching Assistant with some experience of planning and delivering your own lessons
• Experience working with SEN pupils, in particular with those who have Attachment Disorder and Mental Health Difficulties
• Confident to work on a 1:1 basis with students who may be very disengaged from education and may present with complex behaviours such as self-harming, absconding or verbal aggression
• Able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that progress is tracked on a regular basis
• Someone who is able to boost self-esteem as well as help students to make academic progress
