Functional Skills Tutor | NE26 Northumberland | In-Person Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to support learners in the NE26 Northumberland area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require additional academic and pastoral support, including those with SEN, SEMH needs, or outside of mainstream education.
Location & Schedule
- NE26, Northumberland
- Monday to Friday
- School hours
- In-person tuition delivery
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills sessions in Maths and English
- Adapt learning to meet individual student needs and abilities
- Support engagement, confidence, and academic progress
- Build positive and professional relationships with learners
- Provide structured, supportive, and engaging tuition sessions
Ideal Candidate
- Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills (Maths & English)
- Background working with children or young people (SEN/SEMH desirable)
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, flexible, and learner-focused approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- Driving licence preferred for local travel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
