Functional Skills Tutor – Maths & English (Level 1 & 2)

Location: Hayes (in-person tutoring)
Subjects: Functional Skills – Maths & English (Level 1 & 2)
Rate: £20–£30 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Part-time or full-time, flexible hours

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Functional Skills Tutor to support learners in Hayes. This role involves delivering tailored Maths and English tuition at Level 1 and Level 2, with a focus on students who may face additional challenges such as ASD, ADHD, anxiety, and other learning differences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 or small group sessions in Functional Skills Maths and English (Level 1 & 2)

  • Assess learners' needs and create structured, engaging schemes of work

  • Adapt teaching methods to suit a range of learning styles and needs

  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and progress tracking

  • Build strong, positive relationships with learners to boost confidence and motivation

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English (Levels 1 & 2)

  • Skilled in working with neurodiverse learners and those with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, anxiety, etc.)

  • Confident in assessing, planning, and delivering differentiated content

  • Patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
