Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the patience, resilience, and creativity to help young people thrive in a specialist setting?

We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of pupils who need your support the most.

The Role

As a SEMH TA, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Help pupils manage their emotions and behaviour using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning activities designed by the class teacher.
  • Build trusted relationships with pupils who may have experienced adversity or disrupted education.
  • Promote a safe, structured and positive environment for learning.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH needs or in a similar setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Is calm, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Works well as part of a team and is open to learning and development.
  • Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers and reach their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
