Food Technology Teacher
Job description
A secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join their Design & Technology department from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through creative and practical teaching, in a school that values innovation, high standards, and student success.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students to develop essential life skills and a deep understanding of nutrition, food preparation, and hygiene. The department is well-resourced with access to modern kitchen facilities and is supported by a collaborative team of subject specialists.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver a broad and balanced Food Technology curriculum

Inspire students to explore nutrition, cooking techniques, and food science through hands-on learning

Prepare pupils for assessments and support them to achieve their potential at GCSE level

Promote a safe, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment

Contribute to department planning, resource development, and extra-curricular activities
The ideal candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification

Have experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level (KS3 and KS4)

Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a passion for food and nutrition

Be committed to student progress and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues
-
Bring creativity, energy, and a proactive attitude to school life

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
