Family Support Worker – Primary SEN School, Burnley

Position: Family Support Worker
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Setting: Primary Special Educational Needs (SEN) School
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Pay: Dependent on skills and experience

About the School and the Needs You Will Support:
This is a specialist primary setting for pupils with a range of special educational needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, PMLD, MLD and General Learning difficulties.  Many pupils also have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your role will be key in supporting families to navigate these needs and helping children to thrive both in and out of school.

About the Role:

As a Family Support Worker in a school environment, your role will focus on supporting the emotional, social and practical needs of pupils and their families. You will work in close partnership with parents, carers, teachers, and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and help create a supportive home and school environment.

Responsibilities include:

-          Building strong, trusting relationships with families and pupils

-          Supporting families with attendance, routines, parenting strategies and access to services

-          Offering early intervention for families experiencing difficulties

-          Providing practical and emotional support tailored to individual needs

-          Contributing to safeguarding and child protection processes

-          Working as part of the school’s pastoral and inclusion team
