English Teacher – Middlesbrough

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a large secondary school in Middlesbrough to recruit for an English teacher to start in January. The “good” secondary school offers a broad curriculum designed to ensure each pupil has access to as many opportunities as possible to enable them to thrive throughout their academic career. As an English Teacher in this full time role, your contributions to this core subject will play a pivotal part in securing this success. In KS3, some of the topics covered include mythology, Shakespearian villains, poetry, dystopia and American fiction, as well as focus on selected texts across the Key Stage. At GCSE, pupils have five lessons of English per week and complete GCSE qualifications in both English Literature and English Language. The school follows the AQA curriculum and the texts studied are in line with the exam board recommendations.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of delivering English Literature and/or English Language to KS4
- The ability to differentiate lesson material and tailor learning to particular pupil needs
- A proven track record of improving attainment
- Suitable school-based references
- Have and up to date DBS with the Update Service/be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS
- A willingness to undertake CPD and contribute to the wider school life
