An SEN school in Thame are looking for a English Teacher to start in September for a full-time role with a transition period to start before the new academic year

The school caters for children with Autism and Social Emotional and Mental Health. The school maximises the schools rural environment and help pupils to engage in a variety of educational activities which help support their learning. Their aim is to develop self-esteem and confidence in our students, thus helping to further support academic achievements.

Knowledge and qualifications required:

  • Qualified teacher status.
  • Education to degree level (or equivalent experience)

Qualifications Desired:

    • Additional qualifications in working with pupils with special educational needs
  • To have experience of de-escalation or be prepared to undertake training in this

Personal qualities required:

  • Must be able to build effective relationships with difficult children and young people.
  • Must be an approachable and caring personality with integrity.
  • Must have flexibility, strength of character and resilience.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To keep up to date and have awareness of current, significant initiatives in education and in the teaching of your subjects.
  • To liaise with your line manager to ensure the creation, consistent implementation and improvement of courses and schemes of work so that they are accessible to pupils and provide appropriate challenges for all pupils.
  • To differentiate within the classroom to meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities and specific learning difficulties.
  • To use assessment to monitor and review pupil progress and set challenging targets for them.
