Job description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced English teacher to join the teaching staff at a secondary school in Macclesfield, on a temporary basis. As this role is to join the teaching staff, the required applicant will be educated to degree level, preferably in English or a related subject. Solid grounding within the field of English is exacted. Knowledge of relevant examination criteria, as well as curriculum knowledge is imperative.  It is also important to note that as this role is a teaching role, the applicant must hold QTS. The role will focus on:

  • Working to deliver high quality lessons, ensuring that the school curriculum is successfully delivered.
  • Applying unique and engaging teaching methods and strategies, that are designed to allow pupils to thrive within the classroom.
  • Ensuring that interventions are implemented when required, ensuring that every child who may require extra support is catered for.
  • Working in partnership with support staff, to identify students who may require extra guidance within the classroom.
  • Being able to differentiate learning to meet the needs of all individuals.
  • Managing behaviour expectations in line with school policy, as well as working to recommendations made by Ofsted.
  • Working with students on both an individual as well as a group basis.
  • Preparing students for examinations, as well as monitoring factors such as: attendance, in-class assessment, as well as any pastoral issues that may arise.
  • Working to aid the individual development of those with SEN, as well as those whose primary language may not necessarily be English.

This position will commence after the Easter break, and will run through until the end of the academic year. The school’s location is just 20 miles south of Manchester city centre, and is easily accessible for those that drive due to the multiple motorways close by. Additionally, there are several public transport links within close proximity of the school itself. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
