Stockport based secondary school are looking to appoint an English teacher for September 2019 due to an upcoming gap within the department.

Large in size with around 1300 students the school regularly achieves well academically with a positive progress 8 score, and achieves above national and borough averages. The English department has 9 teachers and an experienced Head of Department providing an excellent platform for an incoming English teacher to achieve and ensure students reach expected levels of progress.

The timetable will be full time delivering English across KS3, KS4 and GCSE level. There is a sixth form at school but currently there are no requirements for you to deliver AS/A Level English. To be eligible for this English teaching position you will need to have qualified teacher status in the UK, suitable references, experience of teaching the AQA curriculum and eligibility for a fully enhanced DBS certificate.

Pupil behaviour is generally good at this traditional mixed comprehensive school, but you will need to demonstrate effective behaviour management to ensure learners of all abilities are engaged and reaching expected levels of progress in line with their progress 8 targets.

The school has a train station half a mile away, regular bus routes and easily accessible driving commutes from Manchester, Cheshire East, Tameside and the High Peak.
